A PEEK AT WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS
View photo shoots and outfit ideas and see why so many women become repeat offenders!
Where to Find Outsider Experiences in San Francisco
I am always asked why people do a boudoir session, I simply reply: life changes. I see lots of women in just wanting to feel like themselves again, celebrating a divorce, marriage, baby bump, fitness competition, and so on. The possibilities are endless.
This babe came in only 6 months before: and she had so much to fill me in on! Her first shoot was very sweet and innocent. This one pushed the boundaries! Love love love!
She added a little bit of kink to her session with a whip and restraints. Every session that I have that pushes the limits is a fun and new learning experience. So whats next?
If you are looking for a great place for experiences, check out Black Thorn in Oakland. There is also Inner Sanctum too.
Blindfolds & Masks: These create an air of mystery and intrigue, perfect for building anticipation. Opt for luxurious materials like lace or satin for an added touch of elegance.
Feathers: Delicate feathers can add a playful and sensual touch. Imagine playful feather boas draped around your shoulders or a feather fan strategically placed for a touch of intrigue.
Handcuffs & Cufflinks: Used tastefully, these props can hint at a playful power dynamic. Opt for elegant silver or gold cuffs for a touch of sophistication, or explore velvet or leather for a more playful vibe.
Remember: Communication is key! Discuss your prop ideas with your photographer beforehand to ensure they complement your vision and create the desired aesthetic. With a little creativity and careful selection, props can elevate your boudoir session and help you unleash your inner siren.
Halloween Boudoir Inspiration
Embrace Your Dark Side
Halloween is the perfect time to let your wild side shine. A boudoir shoot with a Halloween theme is a fantastic way to explore your darker side and create some truly unique and captivating images.
Costume Ideas:
Sexy Witch: A classic choice that's both alluring and mysterious.
Sultry Vampire: A timeless look that exudes elegance and danger.
Playful Devil: A fun and flirty option that's perfect for a playful shoot.
Mystical Mermaid: A seductive and ethereal look that's perfect for a water-themed shoot.
Dark Angel: A dramatic and edgy look that's perfect for a moody shoot.
Setting the Scene:
Spooky Setting: Consider a dimly lit room with spooky decorations, such as candles, cobwebs, and skeletons.
Outdoor Adventure: A dark and mysterious forest or a haunted mansion can provide a dramatic backdrop.
Vintage Glamour: A vintage-inspired setting with dark, moody lighting can create a timeless look.
Makeup and Hair:
Dark and Moody: Experiment with dark, smoky eyes and a deep red lip.
Gothic Glam: A pale complexion, dark lips, and dramatic eyeliner can create a striking look.
Mystical Fairy: A soft, ethereal look with flowing hair and delicate makeup.
Remember, the key to a successful Halloween-themed boudoir shoot is to have fun and embrace your creativity. Don't be afraid to experiment with different looks and styles.
Holy smokes! The Martinez Zombie crawl was a blast! If you were a zombie, you can find your photos here.
You MUST sign up for the Downtown Martinez newsletter. They host so many amazing events just like this one! On any given weekend there might be a wine stroll, car show or antique fair. My favorite is the farmers market, which happens every Sunday, 9-1.
When a mom gets a break
She walked in tired.
Not physically, exactly—but that deep, quiet kind of tired that comes from taking care of everyone else first. A nurse. A mom. The one people rely on.
And for a few hours?
She got to put all of that down.
No responsibilities. No expectations. Just her—showing up, letting loose, and actually having fun.
And let me tell you… she did.
More Than Ink: The Meaning Behind Tattoos
Tattoos aren’t just decoration.
They’re stories.
They’re pieces of someone’s life, permanently written onto their body—whether that’s something bold and visible or something quiet and deeply personal.
For some, tattoos mark:
A loved one
A turning point
A belief or identity
A moment they never want to forget
For others, they’re simply a way to express creativity—to wear art, not just admire it.
And when you step into a boudoir session with tattoos?
You’re not just photographing a body.
You’re photographing a collection of stories.
Why Tattoo Boudoir Hits Different
There’s something incredibly powerful about combining boudoir with body art.
Because now, it’s not just about curves, light, and posing.
It’s about highlighting:
The lines of your tattoos
The meaning behind them
The way they flow with your body
Your tattoos add depth. Texture. Emotion.
They create layers in your images that make them feel uniquely yours.
No two sessions ever look the same—because no two stories are the same.
Letting Go and Letting Yourself Be Seen
One of the most beautiful parts of tattoo boudoir?
Watching someone drop the roles they carry every day.
This client—like so many others—came in used to being the caretaker.
The strong one. The dependable one. The one who shows up for everyone else.
But in this space?
She got to be:
Playful
Confident
A little wild
Completely herself
And that shift is everything.
Because when you stop performing for the world and start showing up for yourself…
That’s when the magic happens.
Tattoos as Confidence, Not Something to Hide
Sometimes people worry:
“Are my tattoos too much?”
“Will they distract?”
“Should I cover them?”
The answer?
Absolutely not.
Your tattoos are part of you.
They deserve to be highlighted—not hidden.
In fact, they often enhance your images:
A spine tattoo draws the eye beautifully through your posture
Sleeve work adds contrast and edge
Small, delicate tattoos create intimate focal points
They don’t take away from your photos—they elevate them.
The Experience Feels Surprisingly Familiar
Here’s something interesting:
The energy in a tattoo boudoir session often mirrors the experience of getting a tattoo itself.
It’s collaborative. Personal. Sometimes a little vulnerable.
You’re sharing pieces of your story—whether out loud or just through your presence.
And just like sitting in a tattoo chair, there’s a moment where you decide:
“I’m doing this for me.”
From Taboo to Mainstream (And Why That Matters)
Tattoos have come a long way.
What was once considered rebellious or unconventional is now widely recognized as a legitimate form of art and self-expression.
People are embracing:
Cultural significance
Personal storytelling
Identity and individuality
And boudoir photography is doing the same—creating space for people to show up exactly as they are, without needing to fit into a specific mold.
When those two worlds meet?
You get something raw, real, and incredibly powerful.
A Quick Confession…
I don’t have any tattoos.
I love them—love them—but I am absolutely terrified of needles.
So I live a little vicariously through my clients.
And honestly? I think that’s part of why I appreciate them so much.
Because I see the artistry. The intention. The courage behind them.
Final Thought: Your Body, Your Story, Your Art
Tattoo boudoir isn’t about creating a “look.”
It’s about capturing a version of you that already exists—but maybe doesn’t always get seen.
Your strength.
Your softness.
Your story.
All of it.
So whether your tattoos are bold and loud or quiet and hidden…
They deserve to be part of your story.
And trust me—
They photograph beautifully.

Sign a privacy agreement: Before the shoot, ask your photographer to sign a privacy agreement stating that they will not share or publish your photos without your explicit permission.
Limit distribution: Consider carefully who you share your boudoir photos with. If you want to share them with a partner or spouse, make sure they understand the importance of keeping the photos private.
Meet another repeat offender
I get there are a lot of boudoir photographers out there, so why would you choose me out of everyone else?? The way I approach boudoir is all about celebrating you, encouraging you, supporting you, and helping you love yourself even more. When you book a session with me, it goes far beyond getting gorgeous photos or it just being a business transaction. You're getting a friendship with someone who will forever be one of your loudest cheerleaders, who you can return to again and again know that the same thought and care is put into each time you step inside the Adeline and Grace Intimates studio. Don't believe me? Just ask the babes who are #repeatoffenders - they've done two, three, four sessions with me and they keep coming back.
Here are some reasons:
Capturing different moods or themes: Boudoir photography can capture a range of moods and styles, from playful and flirty to sensual and intimate. Women may want to do multiple sessions to capture different sides of their personalities or to try out different themes.
Celebrating milestones: Boudoir photography can be a way for women to celebrate milestones in their lives, such as a significant birthday, a weight loss goal, or a personal achievement. They may choose to do multiple sessions to mark different milestones over time.
Boosting self-confidence: Boudoir sessions can be empowering for women, helping them to feel more confident and comfortable in their bodies. Doing multiple sessions may allow them to continue building their self-esteem and self-image over time.
Gifts for partners or loved ones: Boudoir photos can make intimate and personal gifts for partners or loved ones. Women may choose to do multiple sessions to create a series of photos that can be given as gifts on different occasions.
Simply enjoying the experience: Boudoir sessions can be a fun and enjoyable experience for women, and some may choose to do multiple sessions simply because they love the process and the results.
Sexy Baker-Inspired Boudoir Session
We talked on the phone before her session, and she explained she loves to bake. And with that, we were off! Just a few personal touches brings a regular boudoir session to a stunningly hot one! Grab the oven mitts. 😜
Baking Up Boudoir Bliss with Fun Props
Calling all baking enthusiasts! Do you dream of incorporating your love for flour, sugar, and all things delicious into your boudoir shoot? You're in luck! Boudoir photography is all about celebrating what makes you unique, and your passion for baking can be a delightful theme to explore.
Whisk Up Some Whimsy:
Flour Power: Get playful by dusting yourself (lightly!) with flour. Imagine a shot where you're playfully tossing flour in the air, creating a soft, ethereal cloud around you.
Mixing Bowl Magic: Hold a beautiful mixing bowl filled with colorful sprinkles or whisks adorned with ribbons. This adds a touch of whimsy and a nod to your baking prowess.
Rolling in the Dough: Drape yourself across a vintage rolling pin or playfully hold it in your hand. This simple prop adds a touch of vintage charm and a subtle nod to your baking skills.
Sweet Treats as Centerpieces:
Delectable Delights: Surround yourself with your signature creations – cupcakes, cookies, or a stunning tiered cake. This creates a visually stunning backdrop and adds a personal touch.
Frosted Fancifulness: Hold a beautifully frosted cupcake or slice of cake playfully near your lips. This playful pose adds a touch of sensuality and highlights your love for all things sweet.
Layered in Luxury: Artfully arrange baking ingredients like flour sacks, sugar jars, or mixing bowls to create a luxurious still life around you. This adds visual interest and subtly references your passion.
Beyond the Kitchen:
Apron Allure: Don a vintage apron (or a cute modern one!) as a playful outer layer. This adds a touch of pin-up charm and subtly hints at your baking expertise. You can even personalize it with a cute message or your initials.
Whisk Away to Wonderland: Create a whimsical scene with a backdrop featuring rolling hills and a vintage picnic basket overflowing with baking supplies. This playful setting adds a touch of fantasy and lets your personality shine.
Sweet Escape: Picture yourself nestled amongst flour sacks, surrounded by vintage cookie cutters or rolling pins. This creates a cozy, intimate setting that celebrates your love for baking.
Remember: Don't be afraid to get creative! Props are all about adding a personal touch and telling your story. So, have fun, embrace your inner baker, and let your boudoir session be as sweet and unique as you are!
Roleplaying being a baker can be a fun activity for you and your partner. Here are some tips to help you get started:
Get into character: Begin by imagining yourself as a baker. What kind of baker are you?
Dress the part: To help you get into character, dress like a baker. Wear a chef's hat and an apron.
Plan your menu: This one should be easy. 😉
Cook and serve.
Remember, the key to roleplaying is to have fun with it! Here are some easy ones to start with:
Chocolate
honey
popsicles
whipped cream
ice
40 and fab!
You might come for the photos, but you'll stay for the experience. I've had Moms come back two, three or even four times for different sessions over the year, and of course their photos are always beautiful, but the photos aren't the only thing that keeps them coming back. It's the self-confidence boost you feel long after your session is over. That feeling that you're stunning, incredible and worth your own time - it sticks with you. Boudoir is special that way, it reminds you who you are, and offers space for who you want to become. So if you're like me and everything to do with you gets put on the back burner, I highly recommend you make some time for yourself and book a session.

Gifting a boudoir session to yourself
Treat Yourself: The Ultimate Act of Self-Love
Let’s start here, because this matters:
Yes, boudoir photos make an incredible gift.
Yes, your partner will absolutely love them.
But at the end of the day?
This experience is for you.
Everything that happens inside the studio—the music, the posing, the laughter, the hype, the quiet moments—it’s all centered around one person:
You.
This is your time to step out of your everyday role—whatever that looks like—and step into a space where you’re celebrated exactly as you are.
This Is a Celebration of You (Not a Version You Think You Should Be)
You don’t have to change anything.
You don’t have to “get ready” in some long-term, life-altering way.
You don’t have to wait until you feel more confident.
This is about honoring:
The body you live in
The strength you carry
The story you’ve walked through
Every pose we guide you through, every image we create, every moment we hype you up—it’s all designed to reflect you, not some filtered or perfected version of you.
Because the truth is…
You’re already enough.
Women Walk Through Our Doors for So Many Reasons
There’s no single “type” of person who books a boudoir session. And there’s definitely no single reason.
Some of the most common ones?
Moms reconnecting with themselves and finding their spark again
Brides creating a deeply personal wedding gift
Women celebrating fitness goals they’ve worked incredibly hard for
Anniversary or birthday gifts
Confidence boosts during a new chapter
Honoring the beauty of a baby bump
Couples looking to reconnect and reignite something meaningful
And sometimes?
There’s no big reason at all.
Just a quiet thought:
“I think I want to do something for me.”
And that’s more than enough.
What a Boudoir Session Really Gives You
On the surface, yes—you’re getting beautiful photos.
But what you walk away with goes so much deeper than that.
A Shift in How You See Yourself
There’s something powerful about seeing yourself through a different lens—literally and emotionally.
You start noticing things you may have overlooked:
Your strength
Your softness
Your presence
And instead of picking yourself apart… you start appreciating what’s already there.
A Confidence Boost That Actually Sticks
This isn’t a quick “feel good” moment that fades the next day.
It’s something you carry with you.
In how you walk.
In how you show up.
In how you talk to yourself.
Because once you’ve seen yourself that way—it’s hard to unsee it.
A Moment That’s Completely Yours
No responsibilities.
No expectations.
No roles to play.
Just you.
And in a world where you’re constantly giving to others, that kind of space is rare—and incredibly important.
Memories That Last Far Beyond the Photos
Years from now, these images won’t just remind you of how you looked.
They’ll remind you of how you felt.
What you were going through.
Who you were becoming.
How you showed up for yourself.
How to Prepare (Without Overthinking It)
Let’s simplify this, because preparation doesn’t need to feel overwhelming.
Choose a Photographer You Trust
This is everything.
You want someone who:
Makes you feel comfortable
Guides you clearly
Creates a safe, supportive space
Because when you feel safe, you relax—and when you relax, everything changes.
Wear What Makes You Feel Like You
It’s not about trends. It’s not about what you think you should wear.
It’s about what makes you feel:
Confident
Comfortable
A little excited
That could be lingerie, a cozy sweater, a sheet, or something totally unexpected.
Let Go of Perfection
You don’t need to know how to pose.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
That’s what we’re here for.
Your only job?
Show up.
Allow Yourself to Enjoy It
This might be the hardest part—but also the most important.
Let yourself:
Laugh
Be a little awkward at first
Settle into the experience
Because once you do… that’s when the magic happens.
So… What’s Your Reason Going to Be?
It could be something big.
It could be something small.
It could be something you don’t even fully have words for yet.
But whatever it is, let it be yours.
Final Thought: You Deserve This
Not because of how you look.
Not because of what you’ve accomplished.
Not because of who it’s for.
But simply because:
You are worth being celebrated.
So go ahead.
Treat yourself.
Show up for yourself.
Let yourself be seen.
And watch what happens when you do.
Escobar After Dark
Ohhhhh I loved this Escobar After Dark series! Shooting at night has its challenges but it's so fun to see the final outcome. Escobar after dark is an outdoor option available during the summer only. To schedule your session book a phone appointment below.
Boudoir photography is all about capturing intimate and sensual images that celebrate your beauty and confidence. If you're looking for a night-time feel for your boudoir session, there are a few things you can do to create the mood and atmosphere you desire.
Choose the right location: Look for a location that has low lighting or dimmer switches that you can adjust to create a more intimate atmosphere.
Use candles and fairy lights: Candles and fairy lights are an excellent way to create a romantic atmosphere. They provide soft, warm lighting that will add a beautiful glow to your images. You can place candles on the nightstand, dresser, or windowsill.
Wear the right clothing: Choose clothing that is comfortable, flattering, and makes you feel confident. Dark or muted colors can help to create a night-time feel, and lingerie or other intimate apparel can help to enhance the sensual nature of the images.
Work with a skilled photographer: A skilled boudoir photographer can help you to create the atmosphere and mood you desire. They will have experience working with low lighting and can use their expertise to create stunning images that capture the essence of the night-time feel you're looking for.
Remember, the most important thing is to be comfortable and confident in your skin. Boudoir photography is all about celebrating your unique beauty and creating images that make you feel empowered and confident.
Book Lover Boudoir Inspiration
It’s easy to look at boudoir inspo photos and recognize the beauty but still feel like you don’t belong because you don't fit the traditional “model” mold. Guess what? I certainly don’t fit that mold either. But that’s not what I represent over here in my corner of the internet. Boudoir is for everybody and EVERY BODY – it shouldn’t feel like this exclusive club.It doesn’t matter if you’re petite or curvy, short or tall, I want you to know how valuable you are and that you have so much you bring to the table by just showing up as yourself. I hope in the spaces I occupy, you know you belong, that you’re always welcome and that I will celebrate you to the fullest no matter what size, shape, ethnicity or gender you identify with.
There are many places to buy books, and the best place to buy books depends on your personal preferences and needs. Here are some options to consider:
Online retailers: Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Book Depository are popular online bookstores that offer a vast selection of books in various formats, such as hardcover, paperback, e-book, and audiobook.
Local bookstores: Independent bookstores can be a great place to find unique and rare titles, and they often have knowledgeable staff who can recommend books based on your interests. You can check if there are any local bookstores in your area or support them through their online store. I love Napa Bookmine.
Secondhand bookstores: Used bookstores, such as Half Price Books or ThriftBooks, offer pre-owned books at discounted prices, and you can often find out-of-print or rare books. I have bought many many books from Thift Books with success!
Book fairs and sales: Book fairs, such as the annual Book Expo America, offer discounted prices on books and opportunities to meet authors and attend book signings.
Libraries: Public libraries offer free access to a wide selection of books, and you can often borrow e-books and audiobooks from your local library digitally.
Ultimately, the best place to buy books is where you feel comfortable and confident in finding what you need.
Where is your favorite place?

Top Reasons to do a Boudoir Session
Top Reasons to Do a Boudoir Session (And Why You Don’t Need an Excuse)
Let’s just start here:
There are a zillion reasons you could come up with to book a boudoir session.
You could do it to celebrate finishing a fitness competition.
You could do it for your birthday.
You could do it as a wedding gift, an anniversary surprise, or just because you want a really fun, different kind of experience.
And honestly? If you’re looking for an excuse… I can absolutely help you find one.
But here’s the truth most people don’t say out loud:
You don’t actually need a reason.
The only reason you need is this:
You want to.
The Real Reason That Matters
Somewhere along the way, we’ve been taught that we need to earn experiences like this.
That we need to hit a certain milestone.
Look a certain way.
Have a special occasion.
But what if none of that was required?
What if wanting to feel confident, celebrated, and seen… was enough?
Because it is.
Doing a boudoir session “just because” isn’t selfish—it’s actually one of the most honest reasons there is.
You’re not doing it for validation.
You’re not doing it for anyone else.
You’re doing it because something inside you is saying,
“I think I’d really enjoy this.”
And that voice? That’s worth listening to.
Popular Reasons Women Book a Boudoir Session
Now, if you do want a reason (because hey, sometimes it helps), here are some of the most common ones I see:
Celebrating a Fitness Journey
You’ve spent months—maybe years—working toward a goal.
Early mornings. Hard workouts. Discipline.
A boudoir session is a way to freeze that moment in time and say,
“Look what I did.”
Marking a Birthday or Milestone
There’s something powerful about choosing to celebrate yourself—not quietly, not passively, but intentionally.
A new decade. A fresh chapter. A moment of growth.
This becomes more than photos. It becomes a marker in your story.
A Gift for Your Partner
Yes, this one is always a hit.
Boudoir albums make incredibly personal, meaningful gifts.
But here’s the twist:
Even when it starts as a gift for someone else… it almost always ends up being just as much (if not more) for you.
Trying Something New
Sometimes the reason is simply:
“I’ve never done anything like this before.”
And that curiosity alone is enough to create an experience you’ll never forget.
Why Some Women Come Back Again (And Again)
Here’s something people don’t always expect:
A lot of women don’t just do this once.
They come back.
And not because they “need more photos”… but because each session captures a different version of themselves.
To Capture Different Looks or Moods
You’re not one-dimensional—and your photos don’t have to be either.
One session might feel:
Soft and romantic
Light and playful
Another might lean into:
Bold, confident, powerful energy
Darker, moodier, more editorial vibes
Each shoot becomes a different expression of you.
To Celebrate Different Life Milestones
Life changes. You change.
And boudoir becomes a way to document those shifts:
Engagement → Wedding → Anniversary
Pregnancy → Postpartum → Reclaiming your body
Major life transitions or fresh starts
Each session tells a different chapter of your story.
To Document Changes in Your Body
Our bodies are not meant to stay the same forever.
And instead of waiting for some “perfect” version of yourself…
Boudoir allows you to say:
“This version of me matters too.”
Some women choose to document:
Before and after a fitness transformation
Different seasons of their body
Growth, healing, or change
And looking back on those images? It hits differently.
To Create Meaningful Gifts Over Time
Instead of a one-time album, some women build a collection over the years.
Different looks. Different moods. Different moments.
Each one becoming a unique, personal gift—or even just a private archive for themselves.
The Thread That Connects All of This
No matter the reason—big or small, planned or spontaneous—there’s one thing that stays the same:
It’s about how you feel when you walk out.
Not just how you look in the photos.
But how you carry yourself afterward.
A little more confident.
A little more aware of your own presence.
A little more connected to yourself.
Final Thought: You Are Reason Enough
If you’ve been sitting there thinking:
“Maybe someday…”
“When I feel more ready…”
“When I have a better reason…”
Let me gently challenge that.
You don’t need to wait.
You don’t need to qualify.
You don’t need a milestone, a partner, or a permission slip.
You are the reason.
Do it because you want to.
Do it because it sounds fun.
Do it because something in you is curious.
And most importantly—
Do it because you’re worth being documented, exactly as you are right now.
Boudoir Before a Mastectomy
Everyone always tells me "photographing weddings is such a big responsibility" It is... except for yesterday. Yesterday I had the honor of photographing Ms. B. She contacted me last minute and wanted to have photos taken before her double mastectomy that is taking place tomorrow. Her outlook on life and her mindset was incredible. Hearing her story and the details of the surgery was inspiring. I know this woman will bounce back even stronger than ever! Ms. B: I can not wait to see you again for part 2 of your boudoir shoot! Here's to a speedy recovery!
So, should you take boudoir photos before a mastectomy?
This is a personal decision that ultimately depends on your comfort level and individual circumstances. Some people may choose to take boudoir photos before a mastectomy as a way to celebrate and honor their breasts, while others may not feel comfortable with the idea.
It's important to consider how you might feel about the photos in the future, as well as any potential emotional or physical discomfort during the photography session. You may also want to consider whether you want to share the photos with others, and if so, who you want to share them with.
Ultimately, the decision to take boudoir photos before a mastectomy should be made based on your own feelings and desires. It may be helpful to talk with other women in similar situations to see if its right for you.
