Do I have to share my photos?

So the really cool thing about coming to Adeline and Grace is you do not have to put your pictures anywhere if you don't want to. So at the end of your shoot, you get a chance to sign a release and the release basically says, don't share anything at all. You can share images of my face after approval, or you can share images that do not contain my face. So that's things like boobs and butts and legs and lips, things of that nature. So it's really whatever you're comfortable with and there's no right or wrong answer to your choice.

It's what feels right for you. And once you see the photos retouched, then you get a chance to let us know if you do want to share them. So at the very end of the process, you see them retouched and you're like, that one's too sexy for the internet, but the other ones are okay.

So it's our goal to always make you feel 100% comfortable throughout the whole entire process. And that's why I love information sharing and giving you guys all these little tips, because if you come into it feeling good and feeling confident, and knowing what you're going to be doing, and during your shoot, then you're going to just rock your shoot even better.

The best time for bridal boudoir

We get a lot of brides that are asking when they should come in to do their photoshoot for their wedding gift. And the short version is about two months before your wedding just to allow everything to be produced because we are a small business, and we are not Amazon Prime. Everything is done according to your specs. No two shoots are alike, and what you might like for an album somebody else might not like. The albums take about four weeks on the longest end of things, and then retouching takes about two weeks. That gives you an extra two weeks of buffer room to make sure that you have everything in time. Furthermore, doing a shoot so close to your wedding, you're going to feel like a crazy person running around with your head cut off. I also photograph weddings, so I know exactly how my brides feel in the weeks leading up to the wedding.

Every single vendor is trying to get ahold of them, and they feel like a crazy person. You need to enjoy this. You need to have fun with this and just bask in where you're at at this point in your life and this milestone and celebrate it. Usually, you're having your bridal shower or your bachelorette party, and you're receiving some fun and fancy gifts that you might be able to use for your shoot, so kind of keep that in mind when you're timing things out. But definitely reach out about three to four months beforehand because we typically book about two months in advance.

Just wanted to share a few more little things. We do have a full closet that you can pull from. These are some of the shoes that are in there. We always suggest bringing a pair of your wedding shoes or what your wedding shoes are going to be for the day of. That way you can wear them for your photos. And we have tons of accessories for brides. We've got these pretty robes here. We've got pearls. We've got lots of sparkly jewelry. So, you can literally walk in here and be in your pajamas, and we take care of the rest. Hopefully, that helps, and congrats on your wedding.

But what if i get my period?

Maybe once a month get an awkward email. It's not awkward to me because I'm a girl, but it's sometimes awkward to the person that is sending the email and they're worried because they just realize that they're going to start their period during their shoot, not necessarily on the day of their shoot but or during the shoot itself because that actually would be a little awkward.

The question is, do we still shoot? The way that I pose, I actually don't see anything down there. I actually pose so that I'm always making your legs super curvy. So what I mean by that, I'm going to scooch way back here, is I'm always shooting like this to give your body more curves and more lines. And so if you're worried about something drawing, you really don't have to be because I'm not going to see anything of that nature. I think I've seen one tampon string and like 10 years of doing this, and that's it. So unless you're one of those women that you are down for the count on the very first day and you know the shoot is going to happen that day, okay, maybe we reschedule. But other than that, it's not a huge deal. Don't overthink it, and if you are worried about it, then just look on the calendar and start counting your days and figure out your shoot according to that. So hope that answers your questions and keep them coming.

When is the best time to do fitness photos?

So I hear that you are competing in a fitness competition. Woo. Good for you. We have lots of fitness competitors that come in that that want to do shoots to document all the progress that they've made over the months, months and months and months and weeks of training for their competition. And one of the biggest questions we always get asked is when should I do my photo shoot to capture my progress? And a lot of people want to come in the days leading up to their competition. And during peak week you're actually a little too lean for photos. I know you never would think that there's such a thing as being too lean for photos. But what happens is in that last week you are cutting so much water and you are literally at the last part of this process. Your skin is crazy dry, it's a little weathered. You are so sunken in and your jaw line that you almost look a little sick.

So we've been telling our fitness clients to come in about two weeks before their actual competition or the week after. So what's the best idea? So there's two different trains of thoughts with that, you can come in two weeks before and granted you won't look exactly like you will leading up to the few days before the show. However, you won't look sickly, you won't have leathery skin. And then the post side of things, if you come in the week after the show, you have to a reverse diet very strategically, and you also will still have that spray tans. So if you do it about a week after, you're probably going to have a normal-ish looking tan. So there's no right or wrong answer as to when to come in. I think it's just more of a personal decision. So two weeks before or the week after your shoot is really the best time to do photos, to document your fitness progress.

When to book your boudoir session

How much time in advance should I book my shoot? You should plan on booking it about six to eight weeks in advance. You do get to see and pick out your pictures the same day as the shoot. However, on the backend, albums can take up to four weeks and retouching can take another two.

We suggest about eight weeks beforehand just to be safe if you've got a certain date that you are going to be giving this by. If you're doing it for yourself, I always suggest doing it on a day that has some special meaning to you. We have a woman coming up who's actually photographing on her birthday, and then she's keeping her hair and makeup on and she's going out after.

    Here is a sample timeline:

9 am: start hair and makeup

11 am change into outfits. I show you how to pose 100%

12 ish Finish your session, a short break happens and then we view how well you ROCKED your shoot!

1ish: walk out on cloud nine!

Up to two weeks later: you see your final images, fully retouched.

Up to two weeks later: if you have selected printed items, it may take up to two weeks to get them into your hands.

    All Women Are Beautiful

A project with The Glamour Room in Napa.

We celebrate each woman's unique beauty. We look to recognize the individual beauty of all women, not just one standard definition of beauty. Every woman is beautiful in her own way – whether it be her physical features, her personality, her quirks, or anything else that makes her unique. Celebrate all types of beauty and embrace the fact that there is no one "right" way to be beautiful.

Every person is unique and beautiful in their own way, and it's important to appreciate and celebrate that diversity.

Beauty is subjective and varies from person to person. It's not just about physical appearance but also about inner qualities such as kindness, confidence, and intelligence. So, instead of focusing on the external features of women, we should recognize and appreciate their individuality and uniqueness.

In short, beauty is not a universal characteristic that can be attributed to all women, but rather a complex and multifaceted concept that encompasses many different qualities and characteristics.

Behind the Scenes of A Boudoir Session

I always wanted to be a therapist, and little did I know it would take the shape in boudoir photography. You see in 2001 I never wanted to photograph women: much less women in their underwear.

And then one day I had a wedding client who wanted photos for her fiance. I told her I can’t promise you anything since I didn’t know what I was doing. And here we are 12 years and 4 studios later!

Women walk through our doors for so many different reasons:

    Moms getting their mojo back

Brides looking for a wedding gift

    Babes slaying fitness goals

    Anniversary presents

The one thing remains the same between all of these women. They walk out with their heads a little higher, a pep in their step and a newfound love for themselves. I have been told that sessions like this are better than therapy.

Our full-service boudoir studio is located in Martinez which comes complete with a bedroom, dressing room and steamy outdoor shower. Nervous? I was too! That’s me in the photos to the right. Feel free to pick up the phone and give me a call! Photos of this nature are a bit intimidating and we are here to ease your fears. 😘
